Thanksgiving 2009

Posted at 08:43 AM on November 18, 2009

I realized that Thanksgiving is only about a week away and since I have not worked on Crossroads much recently, I almost completly forgot to make an event. I'm going to have to go through the trouble of thinking of yet again, another event. This year I'm thinking that the turkies are not showing up and the farmers are clueless as to what is going on. You will have to explore the safari and find out what is causing them to disapear during such a critical time. There is also going to be food and drinks for the Thanksgiving feast the farmers are having that you are going to need to collect along the way. Who knows, maybe you will get to keep some of it for yourself.

Halloween 2009 Event

Posted at 04:46 PM on October 22, 2009

Halloween is coming to Crossroads for a second time, and with new spooky obtainable items and equipment. The people of Hallowvale are tired of those pesky ghosts in their homes, and they need someone like you to go and get rid of them. But the only problem is that these ghosts are immune to all weapons and attacks, the only way your going to be able to eliminate these suckers is to use a special ghost busting vacuum! Of course, you will be rewarded with a special limited time only Halloween item or items for that matter, for your work.

New Battle System and More!

Posted at 04:39 PM on October 22, 2009

Ok, since everyone who has actually played Crossroads (Which is sadly only a few people), liked the sideview battle system added in from a while ago a lot more than the battle system that RPG Maker XP starts you our with (RTAB). I found a new battle system that is still a sideview, but it's more interesting and more awesome! I've also completly changed the battle system to use higher numbers like from Hero's Quest, to make the battles more balanced and stable.

Mr.Random and I have also added the new desert town, Destaria. Mr.Random is also working on a remake of the Cobold Rights quest from the old game (which was still not completed).

A huge change in the database has been done as well, such as items, weapons, and armor being renamed and equipment stat changes.

Train Stations and More!

Posted at 08:25 AM on September 28, 2009

Ok, since I havn't been on the site in a while, I have a mouthful of news to report.

Good News

Just like our old game, Max has inspired me to re-create the train station system to travel from town to town using purchased tickets at the station, only this time, the train station is going to have more towns and all the tickets will be the same price, regardless of how far away the town may be. The train ticket prices before in Hero's Quest RPG were way too expensive. I'm going to try and improve the train system as best as I can. Because of the train station system I'm going to be making, I'll need to add more towns and routes to make it have more of a point, and that means, new maps, new enemies (and more old ones XD), and other.... stuff, I don't freaking know!

Also, Halloween will be here before we know it, so I have to once again put some thought into yet another event, and I'm going to try to make it original from last year's halloween event.

Because the maps in the game seem to altar and change quite a bit, it's making transfering old saves unsafe. So I'll be adding a teleport home spell for all characters. I also want to make it so that you can change your hometown to any town you have visited, I think that would be interesting.

Bad News

I've been having a lot of trouble encrytpting Crossroads as the game begins to increase in size, meaning as I add new files and graphics into the game. So I'm going to have an extremely hard time trying to get the next beta up and running.

Crossroads Anniversary!

Posted at 10:33 PM on August 08, 2009

Today is August 8th, and you know what that means?! Well, you most likely don't but I sure do, The Crossroads Project was started on August 8th 2008 and it is now August 8th 2009! That means it has been exactly one year since the project was started, this is Crossroads' very first anniversary!

And because of this, I'm going to try to upload Beta 0.6. However, I'm going to start using a different site like Uppit or Megaupload or something because Filefront randomly deletes uploaded files unless they are constantly kept alive by having the uploader check on it and It's very annoying and well, it's stupid! So I'll be searching for a new site to upload it onto in the meantime.

Trash Bin System

Posted at 02:04 PM on June 26, 2009

If you have not noticed, i have changed the template of the site today, I was getting sick of the other one, and the other template was way too large anyway.

I'm also going to be making an update where trash bins are going to be set-up around the game. Your probably wondering why I would even do that, right? That's because since you cannot drop items out of your inventory for some strange reason in RPG Maker XP unless you use some kind of custom script, it will be stuck in your inventory until you sell it at a store, the trash bins act as a store, you just walk up to it and sell all your junk that you don't need, such as burnt fish, nobody wants that. You can even buy trash from the trash bin! And the best part is, you get half the item's value back from dropping it into the trash bin, like recycling. Buying trash serves no purpose in the game yet. So anyways, unless I can find a working inventory script that allows dropping items, this is how it will be for now on.

Also, the bank now allows custom acccounts to go up to 10,000 item spaces, that's a lot! Rather pointless since your inventory can hold unlimited items. Hmm, I should probably try to fix that as well to make the game more reasonable.

Happy Late Easter!

Posted at 02:00 AM on June 26, 2009

I know it may sound kind of stupid that I'm saying this on June 26th, but I couldn't help completly skipping a holiday event for Crossroads, so I went ahead and made Easter 2009 anyway. If you had ever played my original now cancelled game, Hero's Quest RPG, you will notice that the Easter 2008 event from that game is very similair to Crossroad's Easter 2009 event. It's pretty much the same set-up, except higher quality and much more professionally prepared.

Since I always seem to make a Crossroads Mod or Admin in charge of holiday events, I chose Dragonfire for the Easter 2009 event due to an Easter Amulet you get that turns you into a rabbit, which is good for Dragonfire's stealth ability to blend in with nature itself for, well, secret missions using his ninja skills.

I'm Back!

Posted at 12:57 AM on June 16, 2009

Sorry that I was ignoring the game and site for such a long peroid of time, but i'm back now. Right now I'm making up for the Easter event that I was suppose to make, so there will be a very late Easter event in Crossroads in the next beta. Betas will now be private. I will also be changing Chaos' name to Howell in the game. Nice site by the way, I went to it.

Oh yeah, and have a great summer as well. smile

Solution Found!

Posted at 08:21 PM on January 12, 2009

I have found a solution to 0.5's problem, the fact that when you tried to extract it, it would fail to do so or say some stupid message that said something about an illegal instruction and blah we suck! I don't exactly know why it would say anything is illegal considering the fact that I purchased the program for $60.00 rather than being a noob and downloading a crack for it *cough* Mr.Random *cough* Well the main point is that i figured out how to fix it and beta 0.5 will be posted once again on filefront tonight.
